Paralegal - Biotech Industry -Lausanne

Our client is a development-stage oncology company, focusing on identifying innovative technologies and developing ground-breaking medicines for cancer treatment.

They are looking for a Paralegal to provide the executive team with legal assistance and advice for general legal matters including but not limited to securities compliance, employment law, regulatory matters, and contract management. The paralegal will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the executive team and legal counsel in preparing legal documentation, and providing legal support services in an efficient and timely manner

  • Draft, review and/or negotiate various types of contracts (confidentiality agreements, master service agreements, vendor agreements, clinical trial agreements, consulting agreements, licensing agreements etc.) for the Company and/or for Onward legal entities based in Switzerland and France

  • Set up, develop and maintain an Onward contract database

  • Research legal issues and engage in fact gathering and checking to support all assigned legal matters (clinical, commercial, market access, etc.)

  • Support IP portfolio management, patent applications and maintenance, trademarks, licensing, and other corporate entity obligations

  • Coordinate approvals, signatures, notarization, and legalization of documents

  • Assist and maintain all corporate records and legal files

  • Manage corporate legal aspects and human resources contracts (work contracts or consulting agreements)

  • Coordinate with outside legal counsels as relevant

  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications and experience

  • Master's degree in business law, or a paralegal certificate

  • Previous experience in the healthcare and biotech sectors or in a law firm working on life sciences matters

  • Good knowledge of intellectual property

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents and to effectively present information to business partners and management

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment regarding legal and contractual matters within broadly defined practices and policies

  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior-level law professionals


  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Rigorous (excellent attention to detail), with good analytical and synthesis skills

  • Able to handle several tasks at once and have a real sense of service

  • Fluent in French and English; German or Chinese is a plus

  • Excellent organizational skills
