Procurement Manager, Capital Projects

We are looking for a Site Procurement Buyer for Capital Projects located at the Client's manufacturing facility.

  • Focused on R&D and delivery of innovative medicines across several therapeutic areas, including oncology, hematology, immunology, and CVD.


The Role


Reporting to the Associate Director, Site Procurement Leader at the site, the site Buyer will lead the local sourcing efforts for all Capital projects procurement related activities. This position will maintain strong alignment to the manufacturing network strategy and initiatives, support the business with close partnership with the site management team, and engage closely with any appropriate sister sites within the GPS network to ensure best value for individual site and network. The Site Procurement Buyer must display excellent communication skills to all internal stakeholders, senior leadership and suppliers.


The Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) Buyer will:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders within the Business Units, Engineering, Global Procurement, Supply Chain, Account Payables and other Finance/Admin functions to ensure a seamless Source to pay business process, while providing a high level of customer service.

  • Support the site’s Capital investment strategy and ensure compliance/governance on all major capital projects. The individual will be instrumental in monitoring/ensuring cost savings including alternate sourcing of materials for cost savings/avoidance across all sites.

  • Support site management and engineering teams on supplier engagement during construction and operational build of the site facility and strategic projects thereafter.

  • Support implementation of key Indirect projects/policies at site and project manage the executional element of activity.

  • Lead/support site-based risk assessments (Indirect & Engineering Services) and prioritize overall business continuity process engagement with the global team.

  • Support /manages procure to pay transactions, enforce policies and internal controls, gather permit collection activities, and provide support for end-users in addition to managing vendor relationships and interactions.

  • Negotiate deliveries with suppliers and escalate as needed through Procurement when deliveries are not aligned to support production needs.

  • Be the escalation contact for investigation and resolution of transactional issues e.g. invoice discrepancies, damages, over shipments, etc.

  • Manage contracts, creation of legal documents and templates, supporting LOIs, SOWs and MSAs across the site and network. Maintains timely control of documents and data to assure accurate retention of records and audit compliance and governance.

  • Achieve and exceed metrics including value beyond savings, cost avoidances.

  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management programs and align with Category Leads.

  • Lead Regional sub-category strategy development and execution in conjunction with relevant category lead.

  • Support cGMP or Finance audit activities, as required, and in alignment with site quality and finance operations.

  • Work with department heads to identify new opportunities and involves Procurement for overall strategy alignment and seeks ways to improve overall service performance.

Our client is looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience - preferably in CAPEX Procurement, Supply Chain and/or Planning.

  • Experience and understanding of both Direct Materials and Capital procurement is a strong asset.

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate to multiple levels within the company and at suppliers.

  • Highly experienced in SAP Procurement module. Additional experience in Supply Chain, MRP Planning and Inventory modules strongly preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Ariba contract management an asset.

  • Procurement skills such as developing relationships with suppliers, expediting, prioritizing and negotiating deliveries, analysing and reporting on supplier performance.

  • Prior cGMP experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry is highly preferred. Comparable controlled industries may be acceptable.

  • Positive, collaborative approach to problem solving. Demonstrated success working in a team environment.

  • Thrives working in a fast-paced environment and proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively.

  • Demonstrated high degree of independence, requiring minimal supervision from senior management.

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent analytic, interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.

  • Proactive, creative and analytic approach to continuous improvement in delivering procurement services and identifying new opportunities.
