For our client, a global pharmaceutical company we are looking for a Process Automation and Analytical Technology (PAAT) Engineer

  • Our client is a global biopharmaceutical company located near Neuchatel, Switzerland

  • Focused on R&D and delivery of innovative medicines across several therapeutic areas, including oncology, haematology, immunology, and CVD.





The Role


The PAAT Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of analytical methods and technologies to monitor and control the manufacturing process in the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, the PAAT Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions and industrial IT systems to optimize the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry, process engineering, automation, and industrial IT.

  • Develop and implement analytical methods and technologies to monitor and control the manufacturing process.

  • Work with various departments, including research and development, quality control, and manufacturing, to develop and implement analytical methods and technologies.

  • Use various analytical techniques, such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy, to analyze raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.

  • Identify critical process parameters and develop control strategies to ensure that the process is operating within the desired range.

  • Identify potential issues and implement corrective actions to prevent deviations from the desired process.

  • Provide real-time information on the process and product quality.

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to analytical methods and technologies.

  • Train and mentor other team members on analytical methods and technologies.

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to optimize the manufacturing process.

  • Develop and maintain industrial IT systems to support the manufacturing process.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that automation and industrial IT solutions are integrated with other systems.

  • Ensure that automation and industrial IT solutions comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide technical support for automation and industrial IT systems.

  • Manage Commissioning & Qualification activities (SAT, IQ, OQ) for projects related to automation systems

  • Work independently and supervise the activities of suppliers

  • Contribute positively to a strong culture of business integrity and ethics

  • Act within compliance and legal requirements as well as within company guidelines

You


Our client is looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong background in analytical chemistry, process engineering, automation, and industrial IT.

  • Experience with various analytical techniques, such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy.

  • Good knowledge of Pharma/Biotech Processes

  • Awareness of Industry 4.0 and related topics.

  • Knowledge of IEC 61131, ISA-88 and ISA-95 Standards

  • Knowledge of Computer Networking and Fieldbus.

  • Design, configuration, installation, and maintenance of automation software and associated hardware.

  • Oversight or participation in all automation aspects of the overall automation project lifecycle (URS, FS, DS, SDS, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ and system support as well)

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Experience with automation systems, such as PLC SCADA, and DCS. (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, iFix, etc)

  • Experience with industrial IT systems, such as MES, LIMS, RMS, and ERP.

  • Experience with PAT solutions, such as SIPAT, Pharma MV, Sentro Pat, SYNTQ a strong plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Oversight or participation on all automation aspects of overall IT projects lifecycle (URS, FS, DS, SDS, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ and system support as well)

  • Good knowledge GxP/GAMP/Data Integrity practices/ASTM E2500

  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills

  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, negotiation, collaboration, and communication abilities.

  • Capable of working under pressure in a multi-cultural environment, at any level of the hierarchy, effectively with a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel.

  • Fluent in English, French a strong plus
